Follow these steps every time you print to make sure your label comes out the correct size on the Brother VC-500W with CZ-1005 roll.

Make sure the VC-500W is plugged in via USB and powered on

The green power LED should be solid. The CZ-1005 roll should be loaded and seated properly.

Click the 🖨️ Print button (or press Ctrl+P)

If the ShopStickr Print Agent is running, the label is sent directly to the printer — no dialog. If not, the browser print dialog opens. Follow steps 3–7 only if using the browser dialog.

Select "Brother VC-500W" as the printer

In the print dialog, click the printer dropdown at the top and choose Brother VC-500W. If you don't see it, the driver may not be installed yet.

Set Paper Size to 2" x 4.9"

In Chrome/Edge: click More settings → find Paper size → select 2" x 4.9". This keeps the preview looking correct. Don't worry if it doesn't match your label size exactly — the Brother VC-500W ignores Chrome's paper size and always cuts to the exact label dimensions the app sends.

Click "More settings" → set Scale to 100%

In Chrome/Edge: click More settings → find Scale → type 100. This prevents the browser from shrinking or enlarging your label.

Set Margins to "None"

In Chrome/Edge: under More settings → find Margins → select None. This ensures edge-to-edge printing with no white border.

Make sure "Background graphics" is turned ON

In Chrome/Edge More settings → check Background graphics. Without this, colored backgrounds and shapes won't print.

Click Print!

Your label will print at exactly the size set in the designer. The printer will auto-cut after printing.

💡 Pro Tips

The print preview may show a blank page or wrong size — this is normal with the Brother VC-500W. The actual label will print correctly regardless of what the preview shows.
The Brother VC-500W ignores Chrome's paper size and always cuts to the exact label dimensions the app sets. You can safely leave paper size on 2"×4.9" for all label sizes.
If text prints too large, go to printer.local in your browser and disable Print Edge-to-Edge in AirPrint Options
Print a test label first before printing a batch
If colors look washed out, open Brother Color Label Editor and set Print Quality to Vivid
Chrome and Edge give the best results — avoid Firefox or Internet Explorer for printing

Print Agent Setup

Skip the browser print dialog — print directly to your Brother VC-500W

The ShopStickr Print Agent is a small background app that runs in your system tray. When it's running, clicking 🖨️ Print sends the label directly to the Brother VC-500W — no print dialog, no extra clicks, no settings to configure every time.

Download and run the installer. It installs in seconds and requires no configuration.

The agent starts automatically and appears as a small icon in your system tray (bottom-right on Windows, menu bar on Mac). It also auto-starts on every login.

The ● Printer ready indicator in the app header turns green. You're all set — click 🖨️ Print and your label prints instantly.
